1. Routine Maintenance and inspection:
The periodic maintenance and inspection are required for the desiccant rotor and cassette. Following the schedule below should result in years of trouble-free operation

2. Rotor refilling:
Small gaps and imperfections can be repaired in the field. All small gaps can be filled with silicon sealant with high temperature rating and remove excess with care. For very small spots, application of a special face coating available from ZENCO INDUSTRIES will cover light areas and re-harden the face of the media. Allow to dry overnight. For deeper scratches or dents, RTV adhesive may be applied to fill it. For damaged or severely contaminated media, the rotor can be sent to us for repair or complete media replacement.
For repair of large damaged areas, it will be necessary to remove the affected area and replace the media with a “plug” or “patch” (Contact ZENCO INDUSTRIES for repair media).

5: Desiccant rotor replacement and installation:
- Secure the air handler and observe applicable safety precautions regarding confined space entry and electrical tag out.
- Determine if the rotor will be removed from the drive side of the cassette or the opposite side. If the rotor is to be removed from the drive side of the cassette and the drive system should be disassembled first.
- It is better that to remove all seals prior to remove the rotor from the cassette.
- Using a strong strap or some wooden spacers to suspend or support the rotor gently.
- Loosen and remove both shaft end bolts at the central shaft of the rotor. Gently move the rotor a few distances towards the side it will be removed from. Slide the shaft and shaft spacer blocks out of the rotor.
- Put more wooden spacer blocks at the bottom of the cassette so that the rotor could be rolled out from the cassette carefully.
- Replace the rotor using the reverse procedure. Be sure not to damage the rotor face

6: Desiccant Rotor cleaning at site:
- Disconnect all power.
- Shield or remove all electrical components with plastic sheeting. Shield the bearing with plastic sheeting. Precautions should be taken to ensure the motor windings and capacitor do not get wet.
- Ensure that an adequate drainage system exists to collect Runoff water from the bottom of the unit.
- Using standard pressure water (do not use a high-pressure washer) and working from the lower half of the wheel, wash the wheel with a standard “garden” nozzle to flush any debris trapped within the flutes of the wheel. Minimize water contact with the seals. Wash from one side and vacuum up water from the other side with a wet vacuum.
- Once the entire process side is adequately washed, rotate the wheel one half turn and wash the section that was at the top.
After washing, there will be temporary derate in performance as the wheel dries out. To expedite the dry out time, regeneration preheat should be activated if it was provided.
